Surgery clinics

We offer a range of clinics and services at the surgery. There are some tasks you can do, such as health reviews, using our online forms.

Nurse services

The nurses are experienced in assessing a variety of clinical problems and are able to test for, diagnose and treat many minor illnesses and advise on management of chronic conditions.

If the nurse thinks you need to see a doctor, she will arrange for you to see one of the GPs either at the time of your appointment or at a later date dependent on clinical need.

In addition they offer the following services:

  • sexual Health Screen including HIV testing
  • cervical Smear Tests
  • blood Tests
  • ECGs
  • ear care
  • smoking Cessation – If you have been advised by the surgery to submit an annual review of your smoking, please complete our online smoking review form.
  • weight loss advice

  • Travel advice (in dedicated travel clinics) – For more information about our travel services, please visit our travel services page.

Sexual health checks

At the Docs we have a great deal of experience dealing with sex in the city. This confidential service is currently only accessible to our registered patients. We have a dedicated specialist nurse practitioner who can perform full sexual health screens. This includes blood tests and swabs as required. We also provide a complete course of treatment and follow up for most sexually shared infections. If you need specialist care we will refer you to your clinic of choice.

To discuss or access these services please book an appointment via reception with one of our nurses.

Family planning

For advice on contraception, please book to see a nurse or doctor. We do not offer coil or cap fitting, or implant insertion, but you can get these at family planning clinics.

HIV

We provide a “same day” HIV testing service on any day with prior arrangement and a routine HIV monitoring service.

The Docs offers a dedicated clinic for long term HIV care. This NWID service provides holistic HIV care: bringing together a primary care perspective with specialist consultant knowledge.

This service offers the opportunity of having HIV managed entirely in a GP setting.
